Salad in Cheese Bak
Ingredients
For the cheese baskets
For the salad
Instructions
Pre heat the oven at 200C degrees on the air setting.
On top of a thin pan place some cooking paper.
Put the cheese in a bowl and add paprika and oregano. Then start mixing them well together.
Using a table spoon grab a quantity and make 4 little bumps of the mixture spacing them well on the pan.
Put it in the oven and bake them till the cheese melts and turns flat.
At this point, start washing and cutting the vegetables for the salad and place them in a big bowl.
Prep the sauce for the salad, by adding all of your ingredients in a mixer or in a glass and whisk them or just in a bowl mixing them well with your fork as if you are trying to make an omelet.
Meanwhile the cheese baskets should be nearly ready.
We now have to shape them as bowls. so, grab 4 same sized bowls and turn them upside down on your kitchen isle.
Once the cheese is completely ready, remove from the oven and let them rest just for 1-2 minutes, so that you can move them without them breaking or you burning yourself.
Then start moving them one by one on top of the bowls.
Let them sit there till they are completely cool and have taken that same shape of the bowl.
Then remove carefully form the bowl.
Add the sauce in the bowl with the salad and after mixing it all well start filling your baskets. Garnish with some parmesan.
Notes
- You could cook your cheese baskets on an anti stick pan too. You should immediately move them on a bowl though as the inside part will be much softer than the outside touching the pan. So, let them rest on the bowl with their inside hugging it, so that the textures are correct. If you want to be done faster use two pans or a bigger one fitting to cheese pieces.
- Use the cheese baskets at any buffet, feeling them with different cooked ingredients such as chicken, mixed vegetables (corn, red beans, peas, peppers), rice etc.
- If you are making a lot of things for the same recipe, you could always prep the cheese baskets the day before and fill them just before serving them.
- Let them sit in room temperature. Don't seal them in tapper ware of any sort as they will soften.
- You could serve the cheese baskets with just some of the ingredients and put the rest of the salad in the middle of the table for people to add to their plates themselves.
- The bigger the cheese basket the bigger the quantity of cheese you are going to need for your recipe. Always be careful when transferring the cheese from the pan to the bowls.
Another recipe I would highly suggest for your Birthday party menus as well as new years eve, as it's pretty impressive especially for a buffet.
