In this menu I am recommending you to prepare different meat products, sausages and vegetables which you will be grilling and serving to your company sequentially throughout the night. My opinion is that you shouldn’t exaggerate when it comes to variety as you most likely won’t be able to estimate the quantities for each kind. To be more exact, one type of red meat, a kind of chicken, some type of cured meat and some vegetables make the perfect menu for me. Serve your main dishes with one or two options of fresh salad, depending on the number of guests you want to accommodate, and one or two dips. Pita bread and some French fries seem like a must in this menu.
You could purchase the meat products and refreshments of your choice even a week before the scheduled dinner/lunch after you have already finalized the date. Beer seems like the most popular drink of choice for a menu like this as well as any type of soda. Ideally make sure that you have extra ice for your drinks. You could marinate the meat from the day before, so that you only have to prepare the salads just before your guests come. Later on, I will be giving you some ideas and dish combos for your barbeque.
- Beef or pork steaks, bacon and sausages, haloumi cheese and grilled vegetables.
- Pork, chicken or vegetables souvlakia or kebab accompanied with pita bread, tzatziki, tomato, onion, parsley, paprika and French fries (Greek traditional assortment).
- Lamb chops, sausages, tzatziki and a Greek salad, with tomato, feta cheese, green peppers, olives, cucumber and French fries.
- Marinated chicken gyro, corn, grilled peppers, mustard sauce and coleslaw salad.
- Gyro made out of soy kebab, wholegrain pita bread/tortillas/Arabic pita bread, yoghurt sauce, cherry tomatoes with plenty of parsley and thinly chopped onion.
- Vegetable burgers (made out of mushrooms or lentils), baked (sweet) potatoes, baked cauliflower in slices, oyster mushrooms, hummus and quinoa salad.
- Smaller fish, squid, shrimps, crawfish, fried zucchini and eggplant, potato salad and a steamed vegetable salad.
- Grilled portobello mushrooms, combined with chicken or turkey burgers or with vegetables and haloumi cheese to keep your dish vegetarian.
