Edible Fir
Ingredients

Instructions
In a bowl put the water, olive oil, sugar and yeast.
Mix till the sugar melts and the yeast activates.
Moving on, add half the flour and some salt.
Mix till it turns into a sloppy dough.
Start partly adding the rest of the flour and always mix taking the dough from the bottom and folding it towards the center.
Once you've added all the flour, create a ball with the dough and let it rest in a warm place, covered, for about 15-20 minutes so that the volume has time to double in size.
Meanwhile start prepping the ingredients you will be using for decorating the tree.
Pre heat the oven at 180C degrees on the air setting and start making little dough balls.
Dip each ball into a different ingredient and make sure there is a variety of flavors.
Place the balls on a pan which you have covered with cooking paper or have already drizzled olive oil all over it.
Leave the distance of one finger between them when placing the balls so that they don't ruin each others shape while baking.
Create a Christmas tree as shown in the picture or any other shape you like.
Bake in the oven on the lower rack for 40-45 minutes until their color turns brown.
Notes
- You could always improvise and experiment when it comes to that taste you choose for your balls.
- If you have a mixer that can form the dough for you, add the wet ingredients first with half the quantity of flour let it make the dough and then move on with the rest of the flour and salt, while the mixer is still on.
- Choose herbs according to your preferences or the men you are prepping.
- You could make your tree salty by using ingredients such as garlic, onion, cheese, dried tomatoes, peppers etc.
- Otherwise you can make them sweet by filling them with chocolate chunks, marmalade, apple slices with cinnamon, blueberries etc.
- You could even fill them with cheese, ham, vegetables or even chicken or meat as long as you make sure to shape a small dump on top of the ball and then fold it securing the ingredients added.
- Enrich the recipe with nuts or other seeds in the dough.
- Create different shapes such as daisies, braids, or you could even use a pot appropriate for cake.
- Include your kids in the process and let them decorate some of the balls with food coloring (either from beetroot, spinach or turmeric)
This bread recipe is honestly one of the easiest ones and will definitely impress your guests if you choose to include in your new years eve menus.
