
Vegetarian “Steak”
Ingredients
For the cauliflower
For the marinade
Instructions
Take a medium-sized cauliflower and sink it in a big bowl, filled with vinegar and water.
Wash it well and pat it dry with a towel.
Cut it in thick slices, as shown in the picture.
Drizzle all the marinade ingredients on and gently massage the cauliflower.
You could have the cauliflower sit together with the marinade in a bowl, in the fridge, till you put it in the oven or bake it straight away, or place it straight on the pan with the marinade and cover it with something, putting it again in the fridge for a bit before baking.
Preheat the oven on the air or grill setting. Pick the middle rack and bake it for 7-8 minutes on each side until it turns into a nice brown color.
Notes
You could use purple cauliflower and white and serve it alternating as part of your diet menu.
Be careful, as you don't want the cauliflower to turn way too soft, as you won't be able to serve it.
You could use different spices for your marinade, either more intense or spicy such as curry, ras el haunt, and cumin. In that case, serve your dish with yogurt, freshly chopped tomato, and coriander or mint.
It's a perfect recipe for a Diet Menu and when you have Vegetarian Guests over or hosting a vegetarian BBQ. It's also a very unique idea for your Lent Menu.
