
White Chocolate Kourampiedes with Nuts
Ingredients
For the white chocolate topping
Instructions
Mix the butter and sugar in a mixer until they turn fluffy.
Add the egg and ouzo and keep mixing well.
Once the mixture is ready place a hook in the mixture for kneading or move to a bowl to do it by hand.
Add the flour slowly in small portions and mix well until it turn into a soft dough.
Add the pistachio nuts and knead so that they become one with the dough.
Pre-heat the oven at 175c degrees on the air setting and bake for 25-30 minutes on the middle rack.
Prep a big pan and spread a good amount of butter on or layer some cooking paper on the surface and start shaping your koyrampiedes in any shape you like.
For the white chocolate topping
Prep a ben marie (boil water in low fire, on 4-5, and place a bowl on top containing the ingredients) and melt the sunflower oil and chocolate.
Using a spoon or spatula mix well until the mixture is completely smooth.
Let it cool for a bit on the side before drizzling it on top of the kourampiedes.
Prep your pan by placing a rack or some cooking paper on top.
Once the kourampiedes are ready, let them cool for a bit until they come to room temperature.
Dip them in the bowl containing the white chocolate and using too spoons move them to the pan.
Do this with all of your kourampiedes and let them cool.
If you want you can put them in the fridge so that you don't have to wait long.
Once you can touch them without getting chocolate on your hands, thy are ready.
Notes
- If you next to take an extra step and give an amazing smell to your kourampiedes rub some butter, about a tea spoon, on your hands before starting to shape them.
- You could replace pistachios with any other nut and use the same amount. A great option could be almonds.
- You could skip the chocolate topping and just dip them in powdered sugar as done traditionally. You will need but 500gr to do that.
- You could use a rolling pin and have your dough be 3-5cm thick and using cooking tools, cut your kourampiedes in different shapes.
- You could prep some milk or dark chocolate topping instead of white chocolate and also add thrusted nuts.
Kourampiedes are a traditional Greek sweet that's a must for every Christmas and New Years table.
